I’m happy to share the process video of this old rusty robot. This fella is from an amazing children’s book about space robots. I tried to make him look old and worn, he’s got some rust and even a missing screw. His stickers totally remind me of hippies! 😄 I always love adding special little details, things the young readers can discover as they go through the story.

Now you can watch the entire process: every brushstroke, every layer, all the little mistakes and changes — all the secrets! 😊 I sped up the video to about twice the original speed, so it’s not too long, but the whole thing in real time took almost four hours and over 3,000 brush strokes.

✨ A Peek Into My Layer Mess

I use a lot of layers! I put almost every detail on a new one so I can tweak things without messing up the rest. It really helps! But I sometimes get lost because I don’t name my layers… so don’t be like me, name your layers! 😂

⚡ Quick Note

I didn’t notice when my iPhone battery died, so part of the process is missing. I replaced that section with a time-lapse. Sorry about that! I’m still learning how to do all this for Patreon, so thanks for bearing with me. 🙈
