Draw a Spooky Cat with Me!
Last Spooky Tutorial, already the third in a row! And my favorite one :)
Go at your own pace
This one might be a little bit harder than those tutorials before, but I believe you can do this, even as a newbie artist! However I mentioned it in a pumpkin tutorial, but it’s super important, so again: If you get stuck or find it hard to follow along, just pause the video to catch up, or replay the parts you need to watch again. This is all about learning, and it needs time!
In each of my tutorials, I try to teach you slightly different skills. Lesson by lesson, post by post, you’ll collect many small techniques, tips, and tricks that you can apply to any of your drawings.

Follow your creativity
I love the annoyed expression of this cutie, but feel free to draw any face you like: smiling, meowing, sleeping… Also, I encourage you to try different colors, shapes, angles… Maybe not from the very beginning. But if you finish this tutorial, draw one more cat, slightly different, and try to apply what you have learned. And maybe one more and another. Or combine all tutorials and create super spooky Halloween art with all the fellas together! Can’t wait to see it.
Basic skills
If you need to dive deeper into topics like ways of coloring, shading, highlights, layers, and so on, I created a whole post about this (and much more)!
Sketch & Stamp
I this tutorial, we will make two sketches, because this one is a little bit challenging. Sketches won’t be a part of your final drawing, but they give you confidence for your coloring. If you struggle here and need a little support, you can always grab a PNG outline or, even better, a stamp with the sketch. It’s all in one spooky package with sketches for two more tutorials and also full, ready-to-use stamps! Check it out!

If you are in a drawing spooky mood, try also the ghost tutorial and the pumpkin. Find more in the scary tutorials in the Halloween Collection.
Useful tech details
I used terms like “layers” and “clipping masks” – let me explain what it is, so you can easily use them later:
layers: it is like drawing on “see-through sheets”: one for the body, one for the eyes, etc. They let me color or fix things without messing up the whole drawing, therefore I use a lot of layers. In Procreate, the layers icon looks like two little squares (in the top right corner).
clipping mask – this one keeps my colors inside the lines/shapes. I tap on the particular layer, choose “Clipping Mask,” and anything I draw will only show up where it’s supposed to. Super helpful for clean coloring!
Size of my canvas: 9 x 9 inches, 340 DPI, RGB or Display P3 Color profile -if you have no idea what I’m talking about 😄 no worries, just check out this post and it’ll all make sense!
