Everyone Can Learn to Draw (not just) Cats 🐱

These are my cat drawings — one from 2018 and one from 2025.

Back in 2018, I illustrated my very first book. No art school. No special classes or mentors. No professional experience. No contacts in the art field. And today? I’ve illustrated more than 70 children’s books. I’ll save the story of how it all happened for another post :) What I really want to share with you today is this: EVERYONE CAN LEARN TO DRAW!

It doesn’t matter when you start. We all picked up a pencil for the first time once. If you think you need “talent,” let me reassure you — you don’t. Talent is overrated. Talent only gives an advantage in a faster start. What actually matters is:

Regular practice and honest commitment ❤️

Daily effort. Even 5 minutes. It’s about commitment — picking up a pencil, brush, or Apple Pencil every day and making something. Anything.

And if you want to progress faster, it helps to have:

Good Tools, Resources, and a Little Guidance 🖌️🎨

That’s where I’d love to help you. I’ve created tutorials, drawing guidelines and tools. Now I’ve collected everything about cats into one big Meow Collection 🐾, just tap here to explore it. Of course, I’ve also created tutorials on other topics, but let’s be honest — who doesn’t love cats? 🐱 I’d love for you to dive in, try it out, and share your progress.

Feel free to:

  • ask questions

  • share your processes, ups and downs

  • use the comment section under this (or any) post

  • and also drop your drawings in the Sharing Time group chat, or Draw Cat like a Pro chat.

I’ll always do my best to support you. 💛 And this isn’t just for cats — the same applies to all my tutorials and content, to all your drawings.

A few quick tips to stay motivated:

  • Start slow and easy so you don’t get discouraged, and be patient.

  • Redraw existing illustrations — use my PNG outlines, stamps, or practice sheets (or any resources out there). Trace them again and again to build skills in natural and smooth strokes.

  • Try different styles and techniques.

  • Draw every day — or at least watch a tutorial, explore a new tip/trick, or pick up a new insight.

  • Share your art with the world and be proud of your progress!
