I believe you will love this! I accidentally bumped into a character design challenge on Instagram (by WacomPH): draw a character who only comes out when it rains. And I loved that idea!

Those little challenges are really great practice. Especially when you can’t come up with an idea of what to draw, if you are short on time and want to doodle something for fun and nudge your creativity :)

I mentioned it in almost every post; drawing each day can help you improve your drawing skills super quickly. And also boost your creativity and help you find your own style. Most of you shared that finding time for regular practice isn’t the problem, but you often struggle with ideas for what to draw. So, if you spot similar challenges, go for it :)

Well, this is my idea/character: Mischievous Raincoat

What do you think? What would you draw?

Give it a try!

  • Who wants to join me? Draw your character and put it into our Sharing Time Chat!

  • Below are a few sketches as a little inspiration, but go wild; it can be anything, an animal, creatures, something creepy or really surprising :)

  • When drawing, try to avoid a plain, basic pose of your character; put it into some action, a funny or expressive pose, and give it some personality or story. When you start creating a character, try to think and work with all those little details; tell a story in one single picture. This helps you open your creativity even more.

PS: This isn’t a paid collaboration with Wacom; I usually draw in Procreate on my iPad. It was actually just a coincidence on the Instagram feed (check out the challenge or their account and join in as well), but I really enjoyed it :)
